Jim Rohn: He Taught Us How To Live

Our friend, mentor and inspiration to millions, Jim Rohn, graduated from this life on Saturday.

My great friend, Bill Rosselle, introduced me to Jim in the 1990’s through a tape set that he loaned me. Needless to say, my life hasn’t been the same since.

Like so many, it was Jim’s simple wisdom that always spoke to me so strongly. And having had the privilege to spend some time with Jim personally, it was the kind of wisdom he lived. Unlike so many of the so-called heroes of today, this hero — an icon of the grandest sort — walked his talk.

I once calculated the time he would have to spend to travel, prepare and speak to the more than 6,000 audiences and 4 million hungry souls worldwide that he reached; and I concluded that he literally gave his adult life to help others find that “day that turns your life around.”

I was almost 50 years old by the time I met Jim, but he’s one of those kind of people that you feel like you’ve known your whole life. Nothing apparently pretentious about him. No need to impress. It was some of the highest points of my life when we spoke together at our Claim Your Power Now event in Dallas and he appeared again at our Claim Your Power Now event in Atlanta.

But I will always cherish above those, the interview I got to do with him for our Goals 2 Go TV show. We recorded it on the first day (I think it was the second show I did that day) and I was fighting a major cold, nervous and excited all at the same time. But he was Jim. Acting like the guy who had spoken to 6,000 audiences, it was just another day at the shop to him. And that, along with his quiet encouragement, put me at ease.

I want to share that interview with you below, in the hopes you will get as much from watching it as I got from doing it. And if you wish, please leave your comments about Jim below (and please feel free to DIGG this and otherwise pass it along to others starving for this kind of message).

I have no doubt that as Jim was greeted upon arrival at his next stop, you could hear the praise ring out, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

  1. This was a great video! So very timely during the holiday season! It lifted me up tremendously!

  2. Thanks, Vic. That really was what I needed to hear right now. And, I have been a huge Jim Rohn fan since about 1993 when I got his course on living a wonderful life from Nightingale Conant. Heaven is a more beautiful place now that he’s there.
And I’d never have known you weren’t feeling well when you recorded that 😉
    Thanks,
    Lara

  4. He was one of a kind. His message will live on for a long time in ways we will never fully know.

  5. I bow to a true master. It was not only the wisdom in the words he taught that spoke to us, it was maybe even more so, the MAN he was – a true leader by example. I wow to become as masterful as I can be. And I wish for all of us to seek out how we can spread the legacy of Jim Rohn to the world.
Thank you Vic for doing your part.

    Peace & Love

  6. I was on the train this morning listening to Jim’s “Living the Exceptional Life” and opened this email. I am deeply saddened but very thankful for this man who touched my life.

I celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary this month and while traveling thru the Bahamas and Newark Airports with my wife, she was the only woman with a long stemmed Red Rose. I’m thankful that my wife, my son and my life has been blessed by the wisdom of Jim Rohn. Thanks Vic.

  7. Hi Vic, Thank you for letting us see this video. Jim has been a mentor of mine since the early 90’s. His words were always so simple and straight forward. I remember spending many evenings at the dining room table with my daughter watching and listening to Jim and filling out his workbook. His pearls of wisdom gives life so much more meaning. I will look him up when I get to the other side because I never got to see him in person in this life. Thank you again Vic. Gratefully, Kent Buell

  12. Thankyou to Mr Jim Rohn for everything he did to help me in my life. I got the opportunity to see Jim Live at one of my Herbalife seminars in Australia and he was such an inspiration to me and too everyone else that was there on that day. We were taught in Herbalife to believe in ourselves and with his help you did just that. Some of us had a tough journey ahead and some didn’t but with his inspiration you got there. So thankyou for being able to see and hear him through his life. R.I.P Jim Rohn you will be sadly missed by all.

Mr Jim Rohn was my first major influence in allowing myself to be set free within my own prison..
I will continue to pass on his good word of how to live your life from the inside out, rather then the outside in… Thank you Jim, and thank you Vic for sharing.. =)

    Sincerely, Amanda Shaw

  17. Vic,
I’m sorry to say I didn’t have a chance to meet Mr Rohn. I was just introduced to his work this past summer. It’s been fantastic listening to his audio recordings, and I am just now beginning to implement what I have been learning.

Thank you for this video. I wasn’t really sure what he looked like currently – all his pics on his site are from earlier.

He was truly a wonderful man, and an inspiration. But more importantly, he was a tremendous instructor and example. He will be missed.

    Thank you.
    Tom

  18. Vic, what a great loss for all of us. My husband and I are both great Rohn fans. We went through a very miserable part of our life and we had picked up one of Jim’s tapes to listen to on a long trip in the car…before it was over our attitudes had changed and Jim had us laughing ourselves silly. Thanks for sharing the video – it gave me a way to say good bye to a great teacher.

  19. Vic,

Thank you for sharing this timeless video. Jim Rohn has encouraged me along with Zig Ziglar since the day I was introduced to him. Thank you for being the awesome giver you are.

  20. Fantastic! It was great to hear Jim Rohn again and a nice interview. We will miss him. I am so glad I got to see him in person and got a lot of his CDs to listen to again and again to his wisdom that I will have for a long time.

Thank you for sharing this !

  21. Jim was a great favorite, my father loved him and introduced me to him. I have loved every word of his. I am always looking for more of his audio productions.

My life has changed because of his wisdom, and how I applied it.

    Thanks

  22. Thanks Vic, condoleance to everybody lives he touched. I believe the first time I encounter Jim Rohn’s work was this interview on TSTN. He got me hooked on his wisdom and his voice pierced my soul. The magic and the mystery, he once said, a person receives the exact same information at the same event, one has a life changing experience, that’s the magic, the other doesn’t that’s the mystery. No matter what he did for all of us and what we did with it, he gave the magic of life’s possibilities along with a blue print and a tools box. Now he got his goals, it’s his time to go.

Sadly missed, but always remembered in hope his champion legacy rub’s off on us. Who’s in to step in his legacy? Farewell, Mr Rohn.

  23. I wept when “Mr. Davis” died in Twelve Pillars by JIM ROHN and Chris Widener.
I thought to myself, why do good people have to die? Then, I remember a phrase from “Mr. Davis’s” letter to “MIchael”, and I quote…

“My legacy is fulfilled in part by teaching you how to live your best life. Your legacy will be to do the same to others. Give of yourself. Sacrifice for the good of others. Take the time to help others and to teach them. Be patient, loving and loyal.”

JIM ROHN, you are my “MR. DAVIS”. GOD needs you now on His side and He is letting us, the other “MICHAEL”s to do our part and leave our legacy to the next generation.

Vic Johnson, thank you for sharing this wonderful video. On this video alone, you are already doing your part. May the Lord bless you with a healthy and wealthy life.

  24. “Get around people who have something of value to share with you.

Their impact will continue to have a significant effect on your life

long they have departed.” —-Jim Rohn

No one could have said it better.
Jim Rohn was one of the best motivational teachers ever to have blessed this planet, with his presence.Today,I, along with millions around the world; pay homage to this great teacher. He will always continue to live in our hearts…..and his teachings…..the legacy he has left behind, will enrich our lives and the lives of those to come.Heartfelt condolences to his near and dear ones. They are not the only ones who will miss him.

  25. God blessed us with Jim Rohn and I will carry him with me always.
Thank you! And thank you for sharing this with us! I’m sure it touches us all.
Jim is one of those that will live on-in us and though us!

  26. I read an ine an interview with Mike Litman and he electrified me so much.

    One of the question was
Mike: We are going to pass on someday. What do you want the word to say about Jim Rohn whe that day comes?
Jim: That he invested his life wisely and as best he could to help as many people to change their lives as possible and that he blessed his own life. That’s really it.

Jim you fought a good fight. Rest

  27. This is the “BEST” email you have shared since I’ve been associated with your organization. I sent this link to approximately 300 individuals in our network. Please let it stay posted so that many can hear this timeless wisdom over and over again (smile).

Thanks again for sharing Jim’s message. It’s so sincere, honest, non-pretentious – selling nothing; yet giving much…absolutely AWESOME!!

  28. Messengers are Angels and what an Angel Jim Rohn is.

I needed some encouragement in changing myself to change my life.

His wisdom is practical and achievable.

God truly has a wonderful servant helping Him to create a world full of Blessings founded in personal accountability and loving others.

  29. Hi Vic I was really sorry to hear of Jim Rohn leaving the show, he was a cast member that will be hard to replace. I heard Jim speak in the Atlanta dome at a Herbalife convention in I think 2003 or 2004 but his words of wisdom his vitality have never left me. Thank you Jim for everything that you have given.

  30. This is it! What better Christmas gift for my four sons in their twenties? Thank you with all my heart for sharing this magnificent interview. He was a good and faithful servant, as you are, Vic. As a naturalized citizen, I doubly appreciate the message of capitalism, of striving to succeed in one’s ultimate good purpose; and, as a retired English teacher, I can think of no better advice than to read and learn and train and teach and always know there is more to search for in the libraries. I love that he said we can design and LIVE extraordinary lives. I don’t know how I was so blessed to get this message, but I will remain forever grateful.

  31. I have been listening to The Claim Your Power Now CDs for the past two days and then to come across this video and hearing the news of his passing was a shock. I am glad I got to know of him and will continue to follow his encourging talks. Thanks so much for having him be part of your work that you pass on. RIP JIM!!

  32. Thanks Vic for sharing Jim Rohn. I believe his legacy will survive for many generations. Kind Regards Vic, I am truly sorry for your loss.

  33. I must admit that Jim’s a great man with great wisdom in life. Some of his books on Lessons In Leadership and Attracting Success has been some of the influences in my life.
And this is how I also ended-up making my mind to pursue in Online Business attracting multiple streams of income on the internet.

Sometimes, it’s not necessary to do extraordinary things to get extraordinary results.

  34. Whao! This is so awesome and powerful I must confess. This man is a legend and I muat say that I am one of those that are proud to have him around here. His teachings will remain impactful even in all lives.

  35. WOW! What a testimony! Many people have expressed the same. My personal excitement: How quickly I can make a decision to change something internally for better results. Many many thanks for this video!

  36. I have just heard Jim Rohn speak….it is a rainy, windy, dark day here in my city… after hearing him on your taped interview, i feel the warmth of his heart shining in my room where i am sitting, ….. im still hear the waves of knowledge from this high being…
knowing that your wisdom is shining on now for years to come, Jim…. in this way, you are with us still …i guess god just needed another angel up there…

thank you Vic, for this inspiring and classic interview…i will now start to write my future financial plan….

  37. Wow a lessen in motivation.Do it now!

Don’t wish I would have should have done at your life’s end.

We only have one life and he lived his to the fullest by giving back.

    Thanks Jim
