Jim Rohn: He Taught Us How To Live
Our friend, mentor and inspiration to millions, Jim Rohn, graduated from this life on Saturday.
My great friend, Bill Rosselle, introduced me to Jim in the 1990′s through a tape set that he loaned me. Needless to say, my life hasn’t been the same since.
Like so many, it was Jim’s simple wisdom that always spoke to me so strongly. And having had the privilege to spend some time with Jim personally, it was the kind of wisdom he lived. Unlike so many of the so-called heroes of today, this hero — an icon of the grandest sort — walked his talk.
I once calculated the time he would have to spend to travel, prepare and speak to the more than 6,000 audiences and 4 million hungry souls worldwide that he reached; and I concluded that he literally gave his adult life to help others find that “day that turns your life around.”
I was almost 50 years old by the time I met Jim, but he’s one of those kind of people that you feel like you’ve known your whole life. Nothing apparently pretentious about him. No need to impress. It was some of the highest points of my life when we spoke together at our Claim Your Power Now event in Dallas and he appeared again at our Claim Your Power Now event in Atlanta.
But I will always cherish above those, the interview I got to do with him for our Goals 2 Go TV show. We recorded it on the first day (I think it was the second show I did that day) and I was fighting a major cold, nervous and excited all at the same time. But he was Jim. Acting like the guy who had spoken to 6,000 audiences, it was just another day at the shop to him. And that, along with his quiet encouragement, put me at ease.

Vic, Thank you for that word picture in my mind now of how Jim gave his adult life help us with our turn-arounds, very vivid! I have a Realtor/Broker friend of mine in Baton Rouge that was so changed by Jim’s message. In fact, the guy I knew before he met Jim Rohn is not the same guy after he met Jim Rohn. That guy, Pat Guttery, was the reason I was in Anaheim, CA in 2004, at that breakfast where you were sharing your testimony of how renewing your mind and renewing your belief in yourself transformed your life into such a success. You talked about being a foot of the cross from some decisions you’d made in life and in 2004, I was at that same cross. Yes, I was touched my Jim that weekend as I am touched by his message every single time I listen to him. But, at the 2004 Jim Event, it was your message that helped wake me up to the possibilities and transform my life into a better success. Thank you also for the Claim Your Power event in Atlanta where Jim was so on key. Honestly, that event, especially with Rene Godefroy and John Di lemme, was one of THE most inspiring weekends I’ve been a part of. That last night of the event was so awesome when Rene told his testimony and you helped raise the money to help the chess guy from ATL helping troubled youth. All I can say is that you and Lisa blew my Lisa and I away that night. She, my Lisa, still talks about that night. Just wanted to say THANK YOU, VIC! AND THANK YOU, LISA! Bill Cobb

Vic-Thank you for holding those Claim Your Power Seminars where I finally got a chance to tell Jim exactly what he meant to me and how much of an influence he had been on me. thanks for the video. I started listening to Mr. Rohn and reading his books about 6 years ago and he has been a huge influence in my life and has led me to other forms of learning. I just wish I could have met him and thanked him for sharing which was one of my goals.

Many years ago I was privileged to have some tapes by Jim Rohn & somehow they got lost !!! I was very disappointed & yet he came back through my computor again doing those wonderful speeches through Shaklee meetings & also world-wide. Yes he was & always will be one of the best people one could ever hope to listen to & never want him to stop talking!!! So tonight again at my computor , somehow this mailing came to tell me of his passing! Thanks be to God for this wonderful man & I’m so glad I got to know of him!!! After 36 yrs in Shaklee, and also running this wonderful business, his “tapes” gave me so much help & direction, & so I mourn his passing with all of you!!!! Love & Blessings! Emmy

Ever since I first heard Jim Rhon my goal was to meet him. And just recently I was searching around to see if I could catch him at a seminar. Then just the other day at a training event, the president of our company said that, ” Today we lost a very special individual by the name of Jim Rhon” I was very saddened by the situation while people around me didn’t really know who he was. He has been instrumental in the philosophy that I take to the marketplace and life in general. He is a man whose words will be reprised and remembered for all eternity. And I think that was his life’s goal. For his words to affect millions of people in a very harmonious way. So his goals will be honored by all the millions of people that have already heard of Jim Rhon and the lucky individuals that have yet to have their life altered by Jim Rhon’s unique mentorship. Jim Rhon’s words will forever be immortal.

i cannot tell you how motivated this clip has left me feeling , i feel invinceable . i feel like i can conquer the world . it is very inspiring because like Mr. Rohn was when he first embarked on his journey of disigning his succsess i too am 26. i have my own company and that obviously comes with alot of challenges .

Loved getting Jim Rohn’s newsletter. It was always filled with wisdom that is useful forever. I never had the honor of hearing him speak, but now I can look back at finding him to see the “voice” behind the wisdom.

I was fortunate enough to cross paths with Jim back in the 80′s and his wisdom has changed my life in more ways than I can possibly list. Not only was he a tremendous writer & speaker…he was a very good man. He never made you feel less whether over coffee or in a room full of people. I truly believe Jim’s purpose on earth was to teach and inspire all of us and he succeeded beyond belief!
He’ll be missed but never, ever forgotten!

And, I feel better hearing that it is okay to give up on a goal. When I would realize a goal wasn’t making me happy and the drive was gone, I would just let it go, but always felt like maybe I was making excuses. Now I know differently – sometimes it’s just time to move on.
Also, the part about feeling what you feel is so very important. Too many times we hear to not let things effect us or to always feel positive, which isn’t possible to do. What the Claim Your Power Now program did for me was to let me know that so long as you keep going, it’s okay. Things happen, but that doesn’t mean stop. Hearing Jim say, ‘feel it and then get back up’, let me know that I how improved my way of living has become, because that is what I do now.
Thank you Vic and company for everything. My attitude is 100% better, I feel my power and know my life is an the verge of making a 360 degree turn. I can do this.
Jim is on to his next adventure and no doubt will be back more powerful than ever. See you soon, Jim…

Jim touched my life in great ways than I can explain or describe. I ate, drank and slept Jim’s thoughts and I have over time being infected by his teachings and wisdom. Even though Jim is dead in the physical, the impact he made to humanity will live forever in the thousands of people that he impacted with his teachings.
Indeed the angels of God will definitely be welcming Jim to the gates of heaven with beautiful choruses and songs for a life well spent in the service of man and God.

Jim Rohn, was a friend, a leader, someone who gave a timely word to millions of people. I had a chance to meet him in 1994 during a seminar, and the meeting was totally awesome! but what happen next, left a mark in my life. He had a meeting with several people after the seminar, and i had a chance to ask several questions, but the one thing left me was this: “Nothing happens by chance, you have to believe in you when others don’t, push yourself when others won’t, do the things that others can’t, because remember nothing happens by chance” Jim I miss you my friend..

I got to meet Jim for about 5 minutes in the early 1990′s at a seminar in Sydney, Australia.
He provided some advice that in addition to everything else he said at the seminar, I needed to hear.
As he said, when you change yourself, you change everything. I’ve never really looked back since that time.

Jim Rohn influenced me so much. I finished the one-year-success-course in which Vic Johnson made a conference call. Thank you so much, Jim Rohn. I remember a lecture by Jim Rohn where he said that one of his greatest wishes after his death will be that his teachings will live on in the life of many people all around the world, that maybe a hundred years from now someone will find a Jim Rohn book (maybe “Seasons of Life”) read it and this book will change the attitude and the mind of this person. I know that this wish will be fulfilled, not only one person, but many many persons all around the world will be influenced by Jim Rohn.

My first thought was OMG!!! Most of the prolific things I’ve learnt over my years gleaning good ideas came from JR. One of my favourite quotes is:

Fortunetly thanks to his legacy of tapes, Books, Cd’s. and Dvd’s He will continue to inspire future generations of people. I can’t help but wonder at the wealth of his journals that he leaves behind. Maybe they can be published some time in the future.

Jim was a great man, and someone whose down to earth wisdom I always respected. I still have his “Art of exceptional living” CD which I have listened to twice. He has touched my life and the lives of others and given us the drive to launch out and be all we can be.
I do my push up’s and remember his voice saying “bit by bit, day by day”…

Thanks for posting this inspirational video. Within the past year, I had been searching for ways to improve myself and my position in life but didn’t know where to begin until I came across Jim Rohn and your sites. Over the past 3-4 months, I have been gathering personal development & goal-oriented material embarking on a journey to truly work on myself so that I can make a difference, not only in my life, but in the lives of others. Learning about Jim Rohn and his teachings has helped open my eyes and has given me direction in my thoughts, as well as, my actions. May we all live in a pursuit to spread what teachings Jim Rohn has left us in hopes to educate, inspire, and direct those around us and those we have yet to meet.

The first time I heard Jim Rohn speak was on a tape I got from claim you power now siminar. I love his humor. I love the way he says no. (should I do that noooooo drawn out slow and delibert. I listened to the cd over and over just to brighten and plan tomorrow today. If I cry which I will it will be because I am feeling sorry for myself. Vic, thanks for the video. I met Jim when he was not so well known,late 60′s. His message then was as it has always been. He had the ability to make you feel as if you’ve known him forever. I only came to discover Jim this summer on holidays. We bought his collection “The Art of Exceptional Living” & listened to the cds in the car while driving around. It changed my life & forced me to look at so many things differently. Funnily enough, today I started listening to these cds again after quite a while and then this evening I received your email & the sad news of his passing. Even though I’ve never met Jim I feel a sadness that he’s gone. He has touched the lives of so many people by simply telling it like it is, he leaves a wonderful & inspirational legacy. I was on the train this morning listening to Jim’s “Living the Exceptional Life” and opened this email. I am deeply saddened but very thankful for this man who touched my life.
I celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary this month and while traveling thru the Bahamas and Newark Airports with my wife, she was the only woman with a long stemmed Red Rose. I’m thankful that my wife, my son and my life has been blessed by the wisdom of Jim Rohn. Thanks Vic.

Hi Vic, Thank you for letting us see this video. Jim has been a mentor of mine since the early 90′s. His words were always so simple and straight forward. I remember spending many evenings at the dining room table with my daughter watching and listening to Jim and filling out his workbook. His pearls of wisdom gives life so much more meaning. Thankyou to Mr Jim Rohn for everything he did to help me in my life. I got the opportunity to see Jim Live at one of my Herbalife seminars in Australia and he was such an inspiration to me and too everyone else that was there on that day. We were taught in Herbalife to believe in ourselves and with his help you did just that. Some of us had a tough journey ahead and some didn’t but with his inspiration you got there. I’m sorry to say I didn’t have a chance to meet Mr Rohn. I was just introduced to his work this past summer. It’s been fantastic listening to his audio recordings, and I am just now beginning to implement what I have been learning.

We went through a very miserable part of our life and we had picked up one of Jim’s tapes to listen to on a long trip in the car…before it was over our attitudes had changed and Jim had us laughing ourselves silly. Thanks Vic, condoleance to everybody lives he touched. I believe the first time I encounter Jim Rohn’s work was this interview on TSTN. He got me hooked on his wisdom and his voice pierced my soul. The magic and the mystery, he once said, a person receives the exact same information at the same event, one has a life changing experience, that’s the magic, the other doesn’t that’s the mystery. No matter what he did for all of us and what we did with it, he gave the magic of life’s possibilities along with a blue print and a tools box. Now he got his goals, it’s his time to go.
Sadly missed, but always remembered in hope his champion legacy rub’s off on us. Who’s in to step in his legacy? Farewell, Mr Rohn.

I wept when “Mr. Davis” died in Twelve Pillars by JIM ROHN and Chris Widener.
I thought to myself, why do good people have to die? Then, I remember a phrase from “Mr. Davis’s” letter to “MIchael”, and I quote…
“My legacy is fulfilled in part by teaching you how to live your best life. Your legacy will be to do the same to others. Give of yourself. Sacrifice for the good of others. Take the time to help others and to teach them. Be patient, loving and loyal.”
JIM ROHN, you are my “MR. DAVIS”. GOD needs you now on His side and He is letting us, the other “MICHAEL”s to do our part and leave our legacy to the next generation.

The man may have transcended this world but not before leaving it and all those who hear his message just a little bet better for his having been here. I wish that I had heard his message when I was a child… that might have saved me many years of pain. Just watching this interview again for the sixth time or so and I marvel and thank God for the blessing of Jim Rohn in my life. The ideas and knowledge are the things I need for a great life and these are the very things I will teach my wife, son and future son (on the way). Just as he said if you go searching, you will find. A family friend told me about “As A Man Thinketh”. The very minute after the phone conversation I googled “As A Man Thinketh” and found your site Vic. I then got the free sample of “Challenge to Succeed” on Mp3. I let my wife listen and said to her I wanted to buy this and she said: “What are you waiting for !”. We bought it on download from your site and Jim Rohn has been there ever since. Vic just a word to you if you read this message; keep the link open for as long as you can; indefinitely would be great !- I just love the way Jim explains so much about his journey in succinct and clear language; he communicates so well !.

Vic. I was a joy to see you and Jim together. I miss him very much. I used to promote Jim and we had special times together. I always wanted to arrive at my destination and hear Jim say “I’m proud of you Roger” My journey has taken longer than I wanted but Jim’s words still affect me. While I cannot prove myself to Him he inspired me to look higher. It was then I realized he was GOD’s influence in my life. I look forward to the day I can hear “Well done good and faithul servant” from GOD and “Hello Roger – you did good” from Jim. Not sure how much longer the journey will be but because of Jim’s influence I know that the journey will continue to be worth it. Hope you can keep this video going indefinatly.
